I’m glad I read Terms and Conditions first in a strange way. Seeing the brothers interact in both books show that these men are like their father in many ways but realize they DO NOT want to live their life like him. For Cal, he struggled the most because he lived in this state of grief all his life being the baby. He felt lost and felt out of sorts because he was “different” in his sense of creativity and sports. While Declan is my favorite, I feel for Cal and felt his pain when reading. I think his dynamic with Zahra came with many flaws; the constant lying and degrading of her feelings bothered me. While I understand he was trying to protect himself, it came at a cost. I think Zahra was his perfect match as they both struggled to trust people but she found love in her family and friends. She had that as a layer of protection. There are some areas in the book that don’t make sense; the issues cal had with women being a main one for me. Almost a “feel bad for me I’m so rich” mantra. I also was annoyed with the constant “throwing my head back to laugh” almost every time. I also didn’t like the fact that Cal had “closure”
With his dad while Declan had animosity and was continuously batteling him. I also felt that the way they laughed and managed their emotions was animated; POSSIBLY tying into the Dreamland piece. Overall, this book was good, but flawed.
