I'm a sucker for existential dread-inducing, impossibly ancient, colossal alien artifacts and Rendezvous with Rama did not fail to deliver. Like many authors from this era, Clarke's stories are a bit light on character, but he delivers on this planet-sized story and leaves you wanting to read the rest of the series.
