The Days of Abandonment
by Elena Ferrante
5 ⭐️
What a read. Elena Ferrante's writing is incredibly addictive even when the subject matter is emotionally difficult. I felt everything she wrote and couldn't put the book down. Olga experienced so many emotions and I felt all of them - from the all encompassing portions of motherhood & marriage to the ability to lose oneself to forging through darkness to find light. Olga is forced to face ghosts of her past as she descends into mania when her husband abruptly leaves her and her two children. Major kudos to the translator.
Reading this as a mom myself hit even harder. TW for something happening to an animal that is … a stressful portion of the book.
