Singer uproots his comfortable urban life to be a librarian in a rural Norwegian town. The complex yet slow movement of his life following this decision makes for a darkly original story, at the centre of which Singer is a compelling narrator. A distinctly Scandinavian boldness, but the story is timeless and relatable.
