We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
5.0
Dear Book,
You have messed me up real bad.
Love, Me
I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I've read another book by this author and it was okay, but nothing great.
This book really surprised me. There was an underlying mystery throughout the book that kept me guessing until the end. I'll admit I wasn't crazy about it at first, but then I got hooked and read the whole thing all the way through. I might actually consider it being one of my favorites. I just can't pinpoint exactly why!
The writing was lyrical. And a definite improvement from her earlier books.
The characters were rich and broken and messed up, but they were family. (Elements about family are always a plus for me.)
"We Were Liars" got me going and didn't let me go until the end where the answers all come and ruined me.
