Mrs Bradshaw's Handbook by Terry Pratchett

3.0

3.5 stars. I listened to the audiobook production of this and it really impressed me. I couldn't imagine physically reading this with its repetition and guidebook style writing. The narrator however (Penelope Keith) was cast perfectly; she sounds like a Mrs. Bradshaw. The sound design is what really pulled me in though. I listened to the majority of this while waiting for buses and let me tell you I felt like I was in a grandiose train station, or a small farming town, wherever the railway took me. They have someone voicing the train announcer that yells out the stops you visit with the appropriate ambiance and it's very charming. Would listen again, but probably skip over all the accommodations and whatnot. They really didn't need to write that much about the 8th most popular hotel lodging in Big Cabbage.
