A quick read for me, good pacing. The magic system was intriguing. I liked the main characters and the tension. I'll be reading the next book.
Spoiler alert ********
I did think the timing was odd that Rune had sex with Gideon and then the next day she accepted Alex's offer to marry, but I understand these events helped the plot.
Whenever she mentioned using menstrual blood it grossed me out, and even saving her friend's blood is more disgusting. But again, I knew it had to get around the "no scars" plot point. Hopefully no more of that in the next book.
