I’ve read quite a few Kylie Scott’s books and when I saw her name I decided to read it before I read the actual blurb. Upon opening the book it seemed rather short with only eighteen chapters. However, I was very surprised by this book especially since this is the second dystopian book I’ve read in one week. It is a rather unusual, sorta humorous/romantic? take of a new pandemic. Dean is the neighbor who lives across the street from Astrid. He decides to kidnap her to protect her from the deadly virus that is taking over the world. Dean has taken the time to set up a lovely cell with plush pillows, a nice bathroom what else could a girl want. Astrid is a first quite perplexed about why he decided to kidnap her. I was waiting for her outrage and anger. This is a quick, fast paced story of two people slowly falling into something amidst a terrible virus that is killing people rather quickly. The story will keep you engaged wondering will they survive and can love conquer all. This was a rather interesting, strange, different dystopian story to me.
