This was one of my most anticipated books of 2020 ever since I heard about it last May. I was so excited because the premise sounded so unique and interesting; safe to say I had high expectations. Sadly, it didn’t turn out that way. It’s not a bad or boring book, but it was lacking, in my opinion. I was expecting it to be super romantic and “scandalous” since showbiz was involved.

I loved the diversity brought by the Latinx crew! And I would have loved the single-dad trope, but that’s one of my gripe about this book. I wish there was more scenes and connection in the book, not just written in summary of how their weekend went. Also, I wish when Yadiel met Jasmine, there was more scenes with them together.

Though this was “romantic”, I didn’t feel connected to the characters. They were somehow flat, and their flaws and problems were so easily resolved that it lacked the punch and the emotions of the readers.

It’s an okay book, I just felt so detached and that I was aware the entire time that they’re fictional characters in a book. I’ll read the next book, which I think will be about Michelle, but I’ll probably go in there with lower expectations. I still recommend this book especially if you enjoy watching telenovelas.
