Omg Kai and Nera were so good! I have been so curious about him since Sergei's book! And Nera since Salvatorre's book. All the linking between the books was so neat to see. Finding out Kai's background was sad and tragic. It's kinda assumed he had a hard life, but gosh he was so emotionally stunted that makes you want to just hug him so tightly and never let go. Nera, mafia princess to the Don, is strong and caring. She is going to school for vet tech and she meets Kai by coincidence when she helps with his wounds. Her being kind to him and expecting nothing in return makes him curious about her. He becomes her protector even if by afar. I really loved their friendship and slow burn.
Nera finds herself in a unsettling position and must take on the role as head of the mafia family. Getting that glimpse of her being a badass Donna was everything! 🤌🏼 Kai finally getting something good and love in life was so special. Gah. They were perfect. ❤️
