I enjoyed reading this book! I went thru many emotions because this is truly like a glimpse of what many Dominicans go thru when coming to the states. So many obstacles & challenges but somehow overcome them. The struggles of keeping family together. Dealing with gentrification and losing a job and losing family.
Reminds me so much of my mom and all the struggles she went thru. That tough love she showed us and her “what would people think” attitude towards everything we did & how it reflected her.
Cara reminds me of my mom, such a helper and doing for others. And not to many reciprocating the help.
