The books discusses interesting, most importantly important, topics, questioning the position of women in society. Although, I found the approach of describing every neighbour and situations happening on Mango street, to support the author’s point, I struggled to stay engaged throughout the book. From time to time, the connection between specific examples and Esperanza were not crystal clear. I really enjoyed Sandra’s poetic writing. It felt as though reading a poem (in a very positive way), almost lyrical.
