Uzumaki by Junji Ito

4.0

Super brilliant, super unnerving. Ito's brand of inexplicable, gradual, chilling horror works so well for the almost serialised chapters at the beginning of the book. The characters aren't extremely strong, more a vessel for the events, but that doesn't make the story any less enjoyable. It pulls you in, and reading another chapter, and another, is much too easy.

The end of this book was where it dropped off a bit for me, although as a whole work it's still insanely good.
