Rule Number Five by Jessa Wilder, J. Wilder
2.0

Sigh, I had high hopes for this, as I liked other books by this author. I think the thing that ruined it the most for me what that in the very beginning she tells us this is a rewrite, she moved scenes around, deleted others, and added in new, and YOU CAN TELL. Dialogue that doesn’t make sense, the random jumping around of “thoughts and feelings” right around the 50% mark. Ugh, it was kind of just a hot mess.

Also, I think we need to redefine “sports romance” just because a character plays a sport does not make it a sports romance if there is no or very little “on screen” game play/description. It feels lazy with no research and like the author is jumping onto the sports romance trope bandwagon without the book ACTUALLY being a sports romance.

A very disappointing 2.5 stars (because it did actually start out good, just went down hill so fast)
