Demon Throne by Debbie Cassidy

5.0

How many of us wish a new found family reveals itself to us as we are older? It's a popular trope for a reason, but I'm betting Nyx is wishing for anything BUT! When Satan dies, Nyx's already busy and exciting life (she is a Hunter) takes a demonic turn when it's discovered that she is the spawn of Satan. One hunt turns into another, and suddenly she is competing with half-siblings for the chance to assume a throne she's not even sure she wants.

Oh, and did I mention that she is HUMAN? Well, mostly. That certainly adds a twist to the new found family dynamic. Now, dash everything with some friendly murder and you have the makings of a demonically good tale.

This is also an RH, with four fantastic love interests, though the heat level isn't burn your face off level just yet. Rather, it's not smut, it's a well-placed growth that moves with the story. I'm still on the fence about who is my favorite, because there is a part of me that screams I have to pick one, even though I am an RH veteran and firmly in the #whychoose camp.

While I ended up loving this novel, I was, for the first time, a bit unsure about a Cassidy book. The beginning opens with a bang, but left me wondering if I had actually picked up book 2 and not book 1! While I was rushing to understand, these characters were throwing obvious development and awareness like pennies, and I was left gapping, a touch confused. And then, wham.... realization dawns, and I realize my doubt was, obviously, misplaced. My faith was quickly restored and I found myself immersed in this hellish world, loving and living it as only Cassidy can inspire.

There are some familiar faces and plenty of new characters to entertain. This is fast, complex and just getting started.
