This was such an action-packed book that I’m surprised it wasn’t the final chapter of the series. Are they going to up the stakes in the next one? I hope so. Being from the San Francisco Bay Area though, I felt myself very distracted with this book taking place in the bay and making sure Rick was accurate in his descriptions. Which I would say he did good not great with it. This book also had one of my biggest pet peeves though: someone surviving a heroic sacrifice, I think it cheapens the moment and makes it mean less. Also Meg felt different in this book; I don’t think I’m starting to like her, but I also don’t think I hate her anymore. I think this series has really strong character development for a lot of the characters, even the minor characters but especially the main characters.
