This book made me angry and sad at the same time. History is wild. But also, why the hell were the residents of this Florida area so upset that these bones were gonna be dug up? Were they ashamed of their past? Or, like, in denial that all this bad shit happened and their family members weee involved in it? It felt out of pocket either way because damn, these kids’ bodies staying buried isn’t gonna change the fact that the adults in charge who put them there are all either going to or already in Hell.
