I read this in a heartbeat. Kundera writes beautifully and breaks the fourth wall like a genius. His characters although not the most compelling, are given such depth that I am invested in were his descriptions will take me. I like his philosophical intersections, especially the ones about “kitsch” and “mitgefühl”, so smart! One of the only books so far I wish I could read for the first time again. Making infidelity in the time of Czech communism a layout for an exploration of the gratitude within my own relationships is quite something lmao.
