The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky
4.0
There is something admirable in Myshkin’s simplicity. He is perceived both as an idiot and as a genius, as his point-blank manner is in direct contrast to the constant affectations of his society. Much like an autistic person navigating human contact.
I was entirely turned off by Rogoszin murdering Nastasya Fillipovna at the end. Don’t have much interest in diving into a full reflection when there was truly gratuitous violence against women as nothing more than a comedic point.
