The House of Always by Jenn Lyons

5.0

This is the fourth book in the Chorus of Dragon Series and Idk how Jenn Lyons does this but just when I thought she couldn't possibly narrate this book in a more unique manner than her previous three - she puts out this brilliant book.

This was probably a mix of haunted House and high fantasy and I had one hell of a time reading it. Honestly, this series has everything that you could ask from high fantasy - there's incredible world building, detailed and complex history and cultural representation, morally grey but awesome characters, lots of magic and just stupendous story telling.

But, the biggest selling point of this book and series is that it's diverse and inclusive as hell. This is a world where gender and sexuality is represented with all its glory. Most of the characters are gay. The three main characters are in a polyamourous relationship and there's literally a ritual where gender transformation is celebrated as a festival.

I think the only drawback that I consider for this series is that it's very complicated at times and that makes getting into the books tough. But I think if you get past the first book, this series is definitely one to check out!!
