Sometimes I Trip On How Happy We Could Be by Nichole Perkins

4.0

A deeply personal and open collection of essays from a New York City writer that covers a variety of topics, from growing up in Nashville, Black women's sexuality, double standards, slut-shaming, online-dating, mental health, being a caretaker to a family member on the spectrum all through the lens of race. Read by the author, she does a great job and you can hear her getting choked up during some of the harder parts. Highly recommended. I loved how she embraced her sexuality and was unapologetic about her wants and needs, not giving in to societal pressure or expectations.
