Hour of Need by Melinda Leigh

4.0

I loved this book. Grant Barrett comes home for 30-day emergency leave from Afghanistan when his brother and sister-in-law are murdered. He comes home to care for his six-year old nephew and four-month old niece. His grief is palpable but he has to be strong for the kids. He is taken with the next door neighbor, Ellie Ross, whose daughter, Julia, babysits the kids sometimes. He is trying hard to figure out why his brother was killed. The police are having little luck. It may be related to a case his brother was working on. Strange things begin to happen and he knows that whatever the killer wanted, he didn't find. This book was very suspenseful. I read it practically in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. And, as a frequent reader of suspense novels I was impressed that I did not figure out what happened until the author told me. It appears this is going to be a series and I can't wait for more books.
