Hallowe'en Party
by Agatha Christie
Very seasonal, very dated. A lot of hand-wringing and snide remarks about the state of modern society. (Pop stars with long hair, the mentally ill being released onto the streets (that little tune is rung four times on various handbells), girls getting above themselves, crime on the rise.) And of course a village where the murder of one child at a party is muddled by no less than four other unsolved murders. It's a lot, and I think this time around it was a bit much for me.
