Devoted by Luna Mason

Luna brought twists and turns, romance and heartbreak in the third novel of the "Beneath the Mask" series. Devoted is a powerful, emotional rollercoaster that I truly savoured each and every moment of. I wish I had the ability to read it again, as though it were the first time. This book is a work of art in its own right. I adored Rosa and Luca's story and how deeply and passionately they are in love. Rosa's position as a mafia princess was about the only thing that had been revealed about her in the earlier books. It was something else watching her character blossom; she had suffered through so much misfortune that she had been carrying it all by herself until meeting Luca. Luca embodies the premise of a morally grey book-boyfriend. He is an irresistible mafia boss who treats his girl with the highest of standards. He is a rock for his family, and it broke my heart to see him mentally torn between his love for them and his love for Rosa. Although the plot element where he plans to kidnap Falcone's daughter as retaliation was wonderful, what really transpires within Devoted makes it my favourite novel in the entirety of the series. Both Rosa and Luca had loved ones they needed to keep safe, and accomplishing so meant repeatedly shattering their own hearts. Luna accomplished a phenomenal job with this book's writing. It killed me; it felt as though I was part of the story, and I felt all of the characters pain. My heart was broken over and over again, and I had to constantly read while fighting back tears, but it was worth every minute of it. I am really excited for the series' upcoming book, Detained, which tells the story of Frankie and Zara. I highly suggest both this book and this series! You are never going to be disappointed with Luna Mason, especially if you're a fan of dark romance!
