Dearest Rogue
by Elizabeth Hoyt
I tried. Really, I did. I had enjoyed book 1 (Wicked Intentions), so when book 2 (Notorious Pleasures) didn't do anything for me, I thought maybe it was a fluke. Book 8 (Dearest Rogue) was the next book my library had, and I gave it a go. It just did not work for me at all. I liked Phoebe and Trevillion, and that's all of the positives.
The plot moved so slow I was bored even at 1.4x speed on the audiobook. The plot was so ridiculous (but not in a fun way!) that I just plain gave up. I have no idea who the titular "Rogue" is, but it sure has hell isn't the bland AF Trevillion. DNF.
Audiobook narrator Ashford McNab took the description of "emotionless" Trevillion and decided that meant completely uninflected and monotone. Bad narrator, no cookie.
