Back to Blood by Tom Wolfe
Not the author's best book, but an entertaining read nonetheless. One problem is that most of the characters are defined by their flaws, which loom large. Wolfe gets inside them and illuminates them, and while it's not pretty, it's instructive. The other problem is that the book ends abruptly; long as it is, I wanted more denouement.
