Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake

2.0

Look...I'm a sucker for a cute sapphic romance and when I had seen this cover it was love at first sight. And my dumb little self set my expectations a little too high. I mean this is still a decent read and I'd still recommend it, but the cover and everyone hyping this book up just gave me some unrealistic expectations.

I loved the focus on family and friendships in this book. I loved that one of the main characters/love interests had a child. I loved the co-parenting discussions. All of that was great. But the romance... it was lacking.

Honestly, it was more the tropes used that didn't work for me. The lack of communication, the I'm-sorta-dating-you-because-of-a-bet situation, and the weird third act breakup that occurred. And while I was rooting for the relationship, I also wasn't. I was more interested in the family drama and the sister dynamic than the romance.

When I had first finished this book, my first instinct was to give this book a 3.5-star rating, but there is just so much that personally didn't work for me. Now if this had just been a contemporary book with no romance, I would have loved it, but for it being a romance and me just feeling meh on it, I'm just disappointed. Maybe it was the audiobook idk.
