Dark Sexy Knight by Katy Regnery
5.0
Oh my heart!! There aren't enough words to describe how much I love this story. First, I have to say I love Katy's modern-day fairytale series. No one can put a modern spin on a familiar fairytale like Katy. The characters and the storyline are all familiar but given that special "Katy" twist. It's like being reintroduced to a friend you haven't seen in years. These stories are written with so much heart you can't help but experience every scene that is set and feel every emotion that a character feels.
Dark Sexy Knight is no different. This is loosely inspired by The Legend of Camelot. Colton and Verity meet at a job fair. Verity is there to try and get her special-needs brother, Ryan jobs. After losing everything, this is a do or die situation for both of them. Colton, who is there to help recruit people to apply for jobs at The Legend of Camelot the medieval dinner theater where he plays the Viking Knight, spots Verity and her brother. Colton is a man with a lot on his plate who is just trying to keep his nose clean. But despite his own best interests, he is drawn to Verity and her brother. He feels a distinct need to help them. Verity, who is down on her luck, is grateful for the helping hand Colton offers. First in the form of a job and then in shelter, care and protection.
While Colton offers solutions to Verity's every day needs, she provides to Colton emotionally. He is a man with a dark past and she chooses to overlook all of that to see the man that lies beneath the dark rumors and harsh exterior. She becomes the salve to his emotional turmoil.
Along the way, they recognize that their hearts recognize each other before they ever met. When things take off between them, we get to see Colton's very swoon-worthy romantic side. He takes care of Verity's cautious heart with the loving care it deserves and she does the same for him.
This is not only a beautiful love story but it's also a beautiful story about family. The emotions that go along with caring for a person with special-needs and the cruelty that they experience. While this story was great for all the reasons I previously mentioned, the Epilogue and the note Katy writes to her readers had me saying "Oh my heart".
