Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth

4.0

3.5/5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. The world was amazing and the world building was meticulous and perfect. The characters felt real and fleshed out and the conflict had me on edge the entire book. It was fun and entertaining. At some points it did drag and there were certain sections that I don’t think needed to be as long as they were. However, my biggest complaint is about Akos and Cyra. They were both great characters, however the book switched points of view between chapters and when it did this, it felt as if you were entering a new story. When it was being told from Cyra’s POV, it did not sound anything like Cyra did when it was being told from Amos’s POV. There was a massive disconnect and it was incredibly distracting. Akos did not act the same when it was his chapter versus when it was being told from Cyra’s POV and I couldn’t get past it. Characters should be stable, no matter who is talking about them.
