I was a little hipster back in the day: when I was in middle school, I thought Hunger Games was a lame rip-off of Battle Royale. Oh, how wrong I was. The two properties have the vague structure of their game in common, and that's really about it.
Turns out, the hype was real. Hunger Games IS really, really good. It's a fast read with interesting world-building and a tense story. It's everything people used to say about it. Even though I knewRue dies , I was impressed by how hard that scene hit. Her time in the story is so short, but she still makes such a big impact, even knowing the twist. I'm really excited to read the next ones.
