A Very Merry Nanny by Lyra Parish
4.0
I adored the hallmark romance of the first book in this interconnected standalone series, so I had to read this one as well.
Emma is a billionaire heiress who handles herself well. She is free-spirited, Clarie's sister, and a maneater. She is more of a flirt than a serious type, or she hasn't found the one yet. She has some preconceived notions about relationships, and they all seem to fail.
Hudson is a grumpy single dad who is JJ's older brother and has a frozen heart from previous failed relationships.
There's nothing like some intimacy, holiday magic, forced proximity, and a hot lumberjack to change her mind. Emma is easily distracted by Hudson, and things start to evolve.
This story has some laughable moments and admits the hot, steamy hallmarks like ones. This story has some flashbacks to their first encounters, things the readers learn about after the fact. The steamy scenes in this book are more poetic than the last, with less smut and more fade to black.
I adore that miscommunication isn't a trope in this story. Even though there is some drama, it all gets worked out together. It is very midlife mature.
The book ends sappy and sweet like their gingerbread cookies but oh so delicious. I love the holiday hallmark feel of this romance.
