Free the Dark by Nicola Rose

4.0

Dayum, Nicola Rose does not fail to deliver.
I've been a fan of the Elwood Legacy from book one and all I can say is my heart's bleeding that it's over. But what a finale! Aside the smut and hotness of certain passages and certain specific (ALEX) characters, I have to say I did not quite see the ending coming. There were a few twists I did not expect and that took me by surprise, which to me is always a good thing. I hate those predictable endings, and prefer to have my head bashed with something I did not foresee. But what I loved the most about this book was Jess. Jessica Layton is going to remain one of my most favourite female characters EVER. She's so flawed, and yet so human in her flaws. SHe's conflicted, like normal people, she messes up, screws up, tries to redeem herself, she falls down and gets back up, and she's just so strong. Even when she's completely vulnerable and submitting to others, she's strong. She remains herself, she does what she deems has to be done. And bows down to none. I'm going to miss Zac, Alex, yes, but mostly I'm going to miss Jess, who taught me a lesson or two about being ok with what others see as our faults. I can only thank Nicola Rose for this.
