Deadly Class Volume 1: Reagan Youth by Rick Remender

4.0

I’ll confess that this graphic novel just barely makes the cut as a pick for me. The artwork works so well, and the colorist deserves a lot of credit, too (the editor’s letter at the beginning praises him, and rightly so). Story wise, I’m not sure how much I buy into the setting. It’s like Hogwarts but nothing supernatural and next-to-no development in this first volume (six issues). I hope volume two will explore the school more.

Another thing that made this fun is when the story is set. Marcus is a freshman in high school during the fall of 1987. I was, too.
