In The Afterlight
by Alexandra Bracken
In The Afterlight is the third book in The Darkest Minds series written by Alexandra Bracken and takes place two months after the last book.
After the sad ending of Never Fade, we are left to wonder what happened to the survivors. With betrayal on the doorstep, the characters face a lot of personal losses. We see the final battle in this book which is more political than action but has a very satisfying ending with an open door for more adventures.
Alexandra Bracken shows off her amazing skills by giving us more amazing relationship development. Ruby and Cole have a brilliant friendship which deals with mental illness and PTSD very well.
Every single character has an excellent end to their story. My personal favourite is Zu's, she deserved what she got in the end and yes, she has a lot of healing to do but it is nice to see her joyful ending.
As well as the last book, I wanted to throw this one across the room when it came to Liam and Ruby's relationship. It was a rollercoaster ride and will definitely be worth a read.
This book was a nice conclusion to Ruby's story and I cannot wait for Zu's story to continue in the forth and final book of the series.
