Nine Lives by Peter Swanson

This was going to be a 2⭐️ book but it immediately lost a star the moment the 'why' was revealed by the killer. I rolled my eyes so hard and just groaned. Make it make sense, cause it was the most asinine and not taking responsibility for their part.
SpoilerYou were part of the little pirates club and agreed to the task given to your sister. You left her in the cove, never going back to check in on her, allowed her to have her hands tied, and when she dies, you are blameless?! But the other kids are the true culprits, and therefore, their spawn should all be murdered.
Dumb. Also, the writing was so dry and wooden that it was a slog to get through. It was just a play-by-play of the murder of each person, and it was presented in such a clinical fashion. There were no stakes, just boredom. I get more excited when reading a restaurant menu. Also,
SpoilerI had a real problem with this man making Allison a lover and comparing her to his daughter. Yeesh. Again, what was the purpose of that little reveal?
Do not recommend it.
