The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber

5.0

The second installment, this book has brought us back to The Magnificent North and the quest of Evangeline Fox to fall in love and have her happy ending. Continuing in the whimsical world of sugary confection, poofy and provocative dresses, fates and vampires, Miss Fox continues to be the most unfortunate damsel in distress and Jacks the heroic villain.

I'm a sucker for Jacks. Never enough Jacks. This is exactly what I wanted. Thank you Stephanie Garber for not ruining him.

All the tropes brought out in this book are usually the absolute worst in other romance books - damsel in distress, true love, villain gets the girl, noble villain, cheating, vampires - but somehow in this world, and in this setting I don't hate it. The world is already so over-the-top ridiculous and children's fairytale-esque that I can't help but adore the cheesiness of it all.

Content is very risque with nudity, but no sex. This has gateway erotica written all over it.
