Instructions for Dancing
by Nicola Yoon
“The problem with a broken heart isn’t that they kill you. It’s that they don’t.” For anyone who’s experienced loss and heartbreak, you will love this book. I had my heart broken 2 years ago and it still hurts sometimes. Evie realizes that yes, all love ends in either heartbreak or death but it’s still worth it. We question how we can continue to live without that person but we find a way, and we find a way to love again, if not with someone else, then with ourselves. We learn to be grateful for the opportunity to have had such a love, regardless of how short or how long. It’s a sad ending but it’s real, it’s real love, it’s real heartbreak, it’s real life. My only wish for this book is just MORE. More dates, more dialogue with X instead of just group hangs and dancing. But overall, the idea behind the book was just raw and beautiful.
