Cop Town by Karin Slaughter
5.0

I swear I was not going to read any more of Ms. Slaughter's work. I was too emotionally invested in her characters and she would twist the knife (literally in some cases) and damage and destroy some of my favorites. But I can't quit her. Cop Town is fantastic. It's uncomfortable, gritty and real. The challenges of the 70s in police work are fascinating. Once again the characters grab you and are fully realized in just a few pages...and then you begin to worry about them. I was glad to see her publish a stand-alone but by the time I finished reading, I really hope that it will be the beginning of a new series.
