Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone
by Diana Gabaldon
After struggling all year to focus on reading books with my eyeballs, I’m so happy BEES held me engaged this past week. I’m about to start it all again with Audible, so I may absorb it all. My initial reaction is it’s 4 out of 5 stars.
I love J&C, of course, and their life on the ridge. After all their movement in MOBY, I’m glad they got some time to breathe, even with the political tension. I’m glad Jamie got the chance to rebuild, since the poor man has been displaced for so much of his life. I love B&R more and more and Roger’s POVs annoy me less and less. William’s growing on me, though I had to roll my eyes at his POV a few times because he’s a hot mess. Amaranthus can kick rocks. LJG’s perspective was the least interesting, though I sooo appreciate DG adding that twist at the end and throwing me for a loop. I appreciate that she shows the complexities of war, and especially that she shows the various hypocrisies of this war for “freedom”. Got me wondering if the British maybe should’ve won. That conflict on the mountain nearly gave me a heart attack. I love that things are getting more fantastical—I am here for it. This family is growing and thriving and I’m so happy for my babies.
