Waiting for the Flood by Alexis Hall

4.0

I have to say, I absolutely love Alexis Hall's writing style.

"You don't really fall in love with a house. You fall in love with the life you could have in it. From the moment I saw it. I saw us. I saw us in every room. Talking. Touching. Sharing. I saw it all. But as it turns out, I only saw my dreams."

"Waiting for the Flood" is a quiet, lovely, and gentle story, just like Edwin, the main character. Edwin was 18yo when Marius, his ex, swept him off his feet. After almost 12 years together, Marius abruptly ends their relationship, completley blind siding Edwin. Two years later Edwin's heartbreak finds him living a lonely quiet life of routines. We learn about Edwin's past through his reflections as he prepares for the inevitable flood waters to invade his cottage and that of his neighbors, as well as, finding love again for the first time since Marius.

I'll definitely be reading this one again and again.
