House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

This book takes place a few months after the events in House of Earth and Blood. In addition to trying to settle things out with Hunt, Bryce is attempting to adjust to her new life as the Princess of Fae. The main characters in this novel are my favourites; they are adorable and make the best couple. Just as I fell in love with the characters in A Court of Thorns and Roses, Sarah once again worked her magic to make me fall in love with the characters in this book. The plot is just as brilliant as it was in the first novel, with plenty of surprising turns and startling discoveries. I had so much fun gathering all the small hints and information and attempting to solve the puzzle on my own. With my heart racing, I couldn't help but read parts of the book quickly since I was so curious about what would happen, but I also wanted to take my time and enjoy this novel. I was captivated by the book's complex narrative and excellent writing throughout. Sarah had better avoid following the pattern and forcing Hunt to do something that can never be forgiven, and then Bryce will never be able to get over his actions and will fall in love with another charming bad boy. I will say that it is definitely wise to pay attention to the prologue in this book. I skimmed it a little since I was kind of puzzled by the new characters, which caused certain information to be missing later in the book. I can't wait for the third book, which is set to be released early next year.
