Dune by Frank Herbert

4.0

Paul is what makes this story so great. He is a very fascinating character, that you just keep reading to learn more about him. From the way that Herbert describes Dune you can tell he's put a lot of time and effort into building it. The supporting characters and the politics between them can sometimes become confusing, but not enough to hamper the story. It's quite likely I'll read the sequel, just to learn more about Paul and Alia.
