The Diviners by Libba Bray

5.0

4.5 stars. After reading Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle series I was super sceptic me about The Diviners, but I'm so glad I picked it up. I loved it! At first I wasn't sure about it, as it seemed complicated and creepy and not my kind of book at all. But the more intricate the plot got, and the more intertwined the characters became the more I started to like it. It was creepy but not overly so, and I was never really too scared to read it. There was a definite build up, and it laid a lot of ground work for the future events of this book and the next book. The characterization was done really well, and I LOVED the dialect and the setting. I really felt like I was in the twenties. It was refreshing for sure, and the paranormal twist was excellent. My only issue was the Jericho-Evil relationship. It took a turn I was not expecting and I'm not really happy about it. That aside though, I can't wait to read the second book!
