The Remedy by Suzanne Young

4.0

Another great addition to THE PROGRAM series! I liked the revelation about how certain things happened before Sloane and James existed, and to be honest I like this concept better than the previous books. The idea of a "closer," someone who helps take away the grief from families. As you can imagine, that's the kind of job that needs emotional hazard pay. Author Suzanne Young doesn't hold back in dumping heaps of emotional baggage and heartache on main character Quinlan. The story is a roller coaster of emotion and was truly heartbreaking to read at some points, given how viciously she was attacked emotionally by the people she was trying to help. I found Quinn to be a very interesting character, caught between the life she wants, the life she's forced to take, and the lies that barely hold her together. The romances between her and Deacon were bittersweet, and the family drama was almost painful to witness. Still, I was happy with the end result of the book and am really looking forward to where its sequel will go, considering the cliffhanger-y endings.
