A Good Neighborhood
by Therese Anne Fowler
This book was not what I was expecting to read when I picked it up. It is a wonderfully well written portrait of race relations in America. It also is gut-wrenching, mostly because of how realistic the events depicted are. The way that Fowler tells the story and has the people living in the neighborhood narrate the events is beautiful and inventive. The questions she raises about purity culture and race are important, and deserve to be addressed in such a thought-provoking way.
