Austerlitz by W.G. Sebald

4.0

I’m not sure what the fashion with no paragraphs is, but at least in this novel in makes sense as a streak of consciousness device as Austerlitz, the narrator relates the story of his quest to rediscover the lives of his parents. It’s a Holocaust novel that deals more with how we reckon with the collective horrors that have happened to us and our families, even if we weren’t there to witness them. I found myself propelled along by the story (perhaps the lack of paragraph breaks kept me chugging along) and I’d like to read another book by Sebald someday.
