As with many romantic suspense books (including other books in the Traver series), this book has a woman facing some serious violence, multiple times, starting from an earlier book when she was abducted. At the start of this one, she's present at a university shooting. Sophie has some serious trauma, and she doesn't have the tools she needs to cope with it, and then even more happens. I was so focused on her and her experience, and worried for her, that I felt gross about her romance with Jonah (who was her rescuer in the previous book).
