I really enjoyed Wild Side but I’m struggling to come up with the words as to what I loved. I know that I adore Tabby, but I also feel like we didn’t get to know her enough as an individual rather than a sister, guardian or wife. I’d have loved to have seen her with her friends more.
Rhys surprised me. I expected him to be far more of a grump based on the first two books in this series. I’d have loved to have explored more of his friendship with Erica, maybe his own feelings towards Milo prior to her death, and, though I can understand that his story, like many others, wouldn’t have closure, I’d have liked more emphasis on the choice he made with his found family, and perhaps some revelations about his biological or adoptive families.
Erica’s death was handled with a lot of grace. There were unanswered questions but I liked that we didn’t get the answers, as it felt like we gave her enough dignity to not pry. As the book went on, however, I did feel like we slightly forgot why we were there. I’d have liked to have seen more conversations with Milo or Tabby’s parents about her sister to show that she wasn’t forgotten. She was brought back into the story at the end, but missing for a large part and I do feel like she deserved to play a bigger part.
I can’t think of much else to say, other than Tabby is an icon and I’d like to be just like her if I’m honest. She is funny and confident and sexy, caring and capable and talented, all the things I wish I could be. Go, Tabby!
