tyresius 's review for:
Really good! A lot of people disdain Dave Ramsey for being too religious or whatever, but really, this book is an excellent intro to money management - not the details of how to practically make a budget, but how to get out of debt, and how to live well. All of that, and he doesn't actually talk about god all that much, and he certainly never preaches religion to you (although he does preach money).
I did the audiobook format, so I actually heard Dave Ramsey reading the book. He is clearly passionate about this topic, and experienced. He's helped a lot of people.
Would I recommend this to someone who know a lot about money already, probably not. Would I recommend this to someone who is struggling to get their finances in order? Absolutely. Dave has outlined a clear, easy to understand formula to get out of debt and manage your money quickly. Is it absolutely optimized for the best return? No, but that's not the point. The point is that if you were a person who goes for the absolutely optimized approach, you wouldn't need the book in the first place. If you follow his plan, you will achieve the results he promises. It's not the only way, it's not the mathematically perfect way, but it is the way that will get you off your ass, show you that improvement is possible, and get you going down the right path. You can deal with optimization later.
