Ahhhhhh, What an experience!!! FINALLY I have read an actual satisfying revenge story. Most of the time when I see a book marketed as delivering the it, it very much disappointed by not going that way at all. But, of course, that is not to be had in this epic french classic!
Right from the start you would know what happens, before the main character is even aware of what is going to befall him; it took him considerable time and help to come to the correct conclusion. After that we are left to watch the meticulous plan unfold. Ah, the grand elaborate plan!! Every moment, every single unveiling and connections were so satisfying!! What made me like, Edmond Dantes, aside from his sheer cleverness was how he would ruminate on all kinds of subject matters. Even when executing his plans, he would find himself doubting the cost. He would then visit all his experiences and hardships that led to this point, with clear headed thinking. Such well explored intrusive characters are seldom seen.
I did have a few moments where I was a bit confused and maybe repulsed by a very few dialogues concerning their declarations of overwhelming emotions. But they were very very few and I accredited it to some fad(?) of that time.
An excellent read!! Would highly recommend to anyone for the best revenge plot
